Careers at Zefting Aviation

We grow technicians.

In-house apprenticeship program + benefits that beat the field. KBLI, Pacific Northwest.

Apprenticeship

We train the next generation of General Aviation A&Ps.

The traditional path into aircraft maintenance is a Part 147 school. Those programs, by design, train students for the airlines — heavy transport, type ratings, hub-and-spoke ops. General aviation maintenance gets less of the curriculum's time as a result.

Our in-house apprenticeship is the alternative. We train from zero — no prior experience required — on the airplanes we work on every day: Diamond, Beechcraft, Cessna, Piper, Epic. By the time you sit for your A&P certificate, you'll have the hands-on hours that count, on real customer aircraft, with a maintenance program that takes general aviation seriously. You'll come out prepared for any A&P career — GA, corporate, charter, or the airlines if that's where you go.

What's different

About this program.

$

Paid from day one

Not an unpaid internship. A real wage that grows as you hit qualification milestones.

SW

Custom tracking software

The FAA's apprenticeship path requires documented experience and skill sign-offs. We use Yellow Tag — software we originally built in-house for our own program, now its own company — to log every work order entry and map it against the Airman Certification Standards (ACS), so when test time comes, your qualification record is complete, organized, and FAA-ready.

T

Tool allowance

A&Ps need their own kit. We help you build it.

Yellow Tag

A real qualification dashboard, not a spreadsheet.

We originally built this software for our own apprenticeship program. It's now its own company — Yellow Tag — and we're its first customer. Every work order entry an apprentice completes maps to the FAA's Airman Certification Standards. The system tracks progress toward the 65% threshold required for FAA Form 8610-2 submission and generates the qualification statement and signed task checklist when it's time.
